List Building Mistakes – The Three Common Mistakes of a List Builder
You might be like a lot of other internet marketers and find it very hard to build a list. Well, instead of telling you what to do, I’d like to show you some thing NOT to do. After all, avoiding mistakes is just as important as doing the right things.
Mistake #1: Building a list of random individuals
List building involves choosing an audience that will be interested in what you have to offer. A more general email list is harder to sell to. Your list must be well-targeted and tightly-targeted. If you are to comprise consumers from different interest groups, then build separate lists for them. One highly-targeted is better than many random ones.
Mistake#2: Failure to provide quality content
A great portion of individuals who have subscribed to your emails do not really read or even open your emails. Thus, you must provide useful content that they can use and will then enthusiastic about. A catchy subject should always be included so that you can give your subscribers a reason to open your emails. Provide valuable content such as important business news, exclusive offers, and other helpful information to make your subscribers want to read more and thus, look forward to receiving another email from you.
Mistake#3: Not using an auto-responder
If your email list is just starting to get populated, attending to your subscribers’ needs may be handled but once it gets bigger, you find begin to find difficulty in maintaining communication with your subscribers manually since those who are more likely not going to unsubscribe will be your priority. Thus, the other subscribers will be neglected. Prospects will not be willing to trust you with their money if you cannot show them that you are capable of maintaining a constant and personal communication with them. This is the reason why an auto-responder program is essential in any list building campaign.
An auto-responder program provides you the ability to deliver prewritten messages to specific individuals or entire email lists at a set date or event. For example, you can have seven prewritten emails that would be sent 7:00 PM everyday. You can also set that every time a new subscriber signs up, an email of verification will be sent to the email address he or she entered. You can also use it for sending product updates or the current newsletter issues.
